Elite Coaches Head to Blackall and Tambo for Junior Sports Clinics
Published on 23 February 2026
Blackall-Tambo Regional Council is thrilled to announce an exciting three-day sports clinic program coming to Blackall and Tambo from 5–7 June, delivering high-level coaching, career inspiration and practical parent workshops for local families.
Six highly qualified coaches will travel to the region to work directly with young athletes across a range of sports, including cricket, tennis, rugby league, athletics and hockey. The clinics aim to provide professional-level skill development while inspiring the next generation of Central West sporting talent.
Adding even greater value to the program, Central West University will deliver expanded workshops exploring the diverse career pathways available within the sports industry. These sessions will highlight opportunities beyond playing, including roles such as sports physiotherapy, sports science, coaching, administration and more — broadening horizons for young people interested in turning their passion for sport into a future profession.
Supporting the Whole Sporting Journey
Recognising that strong community sport involves more than just what happens on the field, the program also includes a series of targeted parent sessions designed to empower families to better support their children’s sporting journeys.
Parent workshops will cover:
-
How to fuel your athlete – practical nutrition guidance for growing bodies
-
How to support your child in their sporting journey – at every level of participation
-
Girls in Sport – confidence, body image and retention
-
Boys in Sport – identity and emotional expression through sport
This holistic approach ensures young athletes, their families and the broader community all benefit from the experience.
Council’s Sport & Recreation Officer, Natalie Dendle, said the event will be a significant opportunity for the region.
“This is going to be an incredible, action-packed and empowering event for our young athletes and their families. Bringing elite-level coaching and career education to Blackall and Tambo ensures our young people don’t miss out on opportunities simply because of geography.”
The clinics are open to young people across the region, and early registration is encouraged.
