Blackall Saleyards

Built around the mid 1970's the Blackall Saleyards were established as a structure to sell local cattle and have been in operation for many years. Today the facility is the major selling centre in Western Queensland and source cattle from Northern and far Western regions.

Over 120,000 cattle pass through the yards each year.Cattle Sales are held each Thursday and are an incredible sight to see with over 100 people attending. Visitors can experience the action of a live sale from the purpose built viewing desk constructed in 2017.

WHEN: Every Thursday starting at 8.30am to 4pm

Council's  Account Details can be obtained by contacting the Office on (07) 4621 6600 during business hours (8.30am to 4.30pm).

When depositing please be sure to use one of the following (or something else corresponding to your payment) as a reference:

  • Payer's Name
  • Rates Assessment No (Property No)
  • Rates Payment Reference No
  • Rates Address
  • Invoice Number 
  • Rental Address

If you unsure of what reference to use for your payment please contact Council and advise of the amount you are depositing and the details of payment (e.g Rates,Invoices, Rent, Town Common Agistment, Building or Equipment Hire etc).

Bring your four-wheel drive (4WD) and follow the river road skirting the tranquil billabongs of the mighty Barcoo.

These backroads take you through prime sheep and cattle land to the corrugated red dunes of Windorah.

The Barcoo River rises on the northern slopes of the Warrego Range near Tambo. It flows north-west then turns south towards Windorah to form Cooper Creek.
