Blackall-Tambo Regional Council is pleased to announce that it has formally taken over stewardship of the 2026 Outback Circus Carnival, following the successful groundwork established by Red Ridge Interior Queensland. With renewed energy, creative direction and a strengthened commitment to honouring the region’s unique circus heritage, Council is now inviting community members across both Blackall and Tambo to be part of shaping the next chapter of this signature event.
The Outback Circus Carnival – formerly the Blackall-Tambo Circus Carnivale – has been rebranded to reflect the broader reach of its story and the deep cultural connections the Central West shares with Australia’s travelling circus families. This regional identity sets the Carnival apart as an event truly unique to Outback Queensland.
To ensure the event is community-driven and locally inspired, Council will host Community Working Group Meetings and Ideas Workshops in both towns. These sessions aim to bring together local organisations, businesses, volunteers and residents who are interested in contributing ideas, participating in event activities or supporting the Carnival’s development behind the scenes.

Council emphasises that strong community collaboration is essential to maximising the cultural and economic benefits of the Carnival, further strengthening the region’s identity as the heartland of Australia’s circus story.
