Council Invests in the Future of the Blackall Showgrounds

Work is set to begin on an important upgrade to the Blackall Showgrounds this month, with road sealing works to be carried out around the main arena from early next week.

 

The project will provide a more reliable access road around the arena, making the grounds more practical for the many events and sporting activities held at the Showgrounds throughout the year.

 

Mayor Andrew Martin said the project reflected Council's commitment to investing in facilities that matter to the local community.

 

“The Blackall Showgrounds are used by a wide range of groups throughout the year, and we want to make sure the grounds continue to meet the needs of the people who use them no matter the weather conditions.

 

“Council has listened to feedback about the Showgrounds and are moving to improve access and make the facility more practical and usable.

 

“The sealing of the ring road around the arena will make a real difference to the way the grounds can be used for events and activities, come rain hail or shine."

 

Works are expected to commence from Monday 7th September, with residents asked to take care around the work crews and, where possible, avoid unnecessary traffic through the grounds while the works are being completed.

 

The project forms part of Council’s annual upgrades and is expected to be completed in the coming weeks.
