Blackall-Tambo Regional Council managed the development of Bark Park to provide a dedicated off-leash recreation space for dogs and their owners, while supporting responsible pet ownership and community wellbeing.

The project was initiated by the 2025 Blackall-Tambo Youth Council, which identified the need for a safe and secure area where dogs can exercise, socialise and enjoy the outdoors. The dog park forms part of Council's broader commitment to improving recreational facilities and creating spaces that encourage community connection.

Located near the Barcoo River campground, Banks Park, an EV charging station, and the Pathway to Health walking trails, the fenced facility includes seating, a water bubbler, dog waste bags and bins. The park now provides a welcoming space for residents and visitors alike, while complementing the wider network of recreational areas across Blackall.

About the Blackall-Tambo Youth Council

The Blackall-Tambo Regional Youth Council (BTYC) provides the local young people in the region with an opportunity to have their voices heard and contribute to decisions that shape the future of our communities.

Established by the Blackall-Tambo Regional Council in 2025, the Youth Council is a school-based leadership group that represents the voice of young people aged 10-17 years who live, work, study or socialise within the Blackall-Tambo region. The formation of the Youth Council aims to encourage participation in local government, the development of leadership skills, and to provide advice to Council regarding initiatives that benefit young people across the region.
