The RAPAD Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) Alliance has committed to hosting a forum in Blackall this year, as part of a regional series of discussions focused on strengthening early childhood education and care across Central West Queensland. Supported by Blackall-Tambo Regional Council, as one of seven councils within the RAPAD group, the initiative forms part of RAPAD’s broader work to improve access to early learning services, particularly in response to identified gaps for rural and remote families.

Recent regional analysis has highlighted the critical role of ECEC in supporting child development, workforce participation, and long-term community sustainability, while also identifying ongoing challenges in service availability across the region.

Early forum sessions will be held in Longreach on 18–19 May 2026, providing an opportunity for regional stakeholders to contribute to discussions on workforce challenges, service delivery, and access to early learning in rural and remote communities.

Follow-up forum sessions will take place in Blackall on 3–4 August 2026 at the Blackall Cultural Centre, bringing together sector representatives, service providers, and community stakeholders to continue collaboration and planning for the future of early childhood education and care in the region.
