The Blackall Saleyards Advisory Committee met on Monday 30 March 2026 at the Blackall Council Chambers, with Council representatives and local industry stakeholders in attendance. Discussions focused on governance and planning, including the endorsement of the Committee’s Terms of Reference and the 2026 Agreement between Council and the Blackall Livestock Auctioneers Association.
New advisory representatives were also confirmed, with Ian Macdonald appointed as Primary Producer Representative and Scott Choyce as Transport Operator Representative.
Updates were provided on current and upcoming saleyards improvements, including fencing works, new spelling yards and hay feeder repairs, as well as future planning and equipment needs. The committee also noted the successful outcome of a recent EU audit and ongoing work to strengthen workplace health and safety practices. Council continues to work closely with local industry to ensure the Blackall Saleyards remain efficient, compliant and well-positioned to support the region’s livestock sector for the future.
