The first Sprouts and Seniors playgroup session for the year was held this week, with a lively morning that saw participants enjoying the chaos that only a group of young children can bring. Residents of the Barcoo Living Aged Care facility expressed their enjoyment of the visit and enthusiasm for future sessions.
The morning program included story time featuring the classic There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly, with children interacting by adding animal figurines to an “old lady” puppet. Morning tea was provided by the Blackall-Tambo Regional Council Community Hub team, and a selection of books was made available for residents to borrow thanks to the local library.
The program is set to continue throughout the year, strengthening connections between young children and aged care residents in the community.
