Tambo Community Gardens Growing Connections

A new community-led initiative is preparing for a bumper spring crop this year, with the official opening of the Tambo Community Gardens taking place this morning at the Blackall-Tambo Regional Councilmanaged Tambo Community Hub.

 

The project began through discussions with Assistant CDO/NDIS Support Worker Charmaine Bailey championing the idea of creating more community garden opportunities. With support from Council and keen gardeners within the town, the space has now become a reality.

 

Locals were invited to attend the official opening earlier today, with special guest Jerry Coleby-Williams joining the occasion. Councillors and officials, including Mayor Andrew Martin, were also on hand to formally open the garden area for use.

 

Following the supply of raised garden beds, soil, mulch and gardening equipment by Council, the community is now encouraged to grow their own produce and share their gardening knowledge with others, with more information available through the Tambo Community Hub on (07) 4520 9746
