Blackall-Tambo Regional Council advises the public that we are consulting with the state lead agency - Queensland Health to assist in the preparedness in COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.

Current Health Advice

If you have been overseas in the past 14 days or in close contact with someone who has a confirmed case of COVID-19 and are feeling unwell, particularly with the following symptoms, please contact your health care provider:

  • fever
  • a cough
  • sore throat
  • fatigue
  • shortness of breath

If you start to feel unwell and develop any symptoms at all, but especially a fever or shortness of breath, a cough or a respiratory illness, you should seek immediate medical attention. Call ahead to your GP and tell them your travel history so they can prepare for your visit.

People who are self-quarantined must call 13 HEALTH (13 43 25 84) for futher advice and to register for support. Staff at 13 HEALTH can connect people through to a local public health unit and other health support services.

    • Access up-to-date Queensland Health Information
    • Respond in ways that is consistent with current health advice
    • Be vigilant about everyday infection control measures including: effective hand hygiene, social distancing, standing 1.5 meters away from someone who is sick, covering coughs and sneezes, avoid touching faces staying at home is unwell
  • If you have been overseas in the past 14 days or in close contact with someone who has a confirmed case of COVID-19 and are feeling unwell, with the following symptoms:

    • Fever
    • a cough
    • a sore throat
    • fatigue
    • shortness of breath
    1. Please ring your local GP, primary health centre or hospital before presenting to the facility. This is essential so that arrangements can be organised for appropriate assessment.
    2. If a test or treatment is required you will be advised of the next steps.

  • Self-quarantine means staying in your home, hotel room or provided accommodation and not leaving for the period you are required to quarantine. Only People who usually live in the household should be in the home. Do not allow visitors into the home.

    If you have been overseas and are feeling unwell, you need to self-quarantine for 14 days from the date you arrived in Australia.

    You must also self-quarantine if you have been in close contact with someone who already has novel coronavirus (COVID-19)

    While you're self-quarantining, if you start you feel unwell and develop any symptoms at all, but especially a fever or shortness of breath, a cough or a respiratory illness you should seek immediate medical attention. Call ahead to your GP and tell them your travel history so they can prepare for your visit.

  • Community recovery support and assistance is available through the Department of Communities, Disability Services and Seniors, for Queenslanders in self-quarantine die to COVID19. If you require assistance please call the Community Recovery hotline 1800 173 349

    Self-Isolation or

    • You have tested positive for COVID-19.
    • You are well enough to be looked after at home or in government provided accommodation.
    • Being isolated at home means that people need to stay at home. A person in isolation cannot leave to attend public places, including work, school, childcare or university.
    • Only people who usually live in the household should be in the home. Do not see visitors.
    • In Australia, you can come out of self-isolation in 14 days you may resume normal contact, providing you stay well.

    • You have tested positive for COVID-19
    • You are not well enough to be looked after at home
    • In Australia, you can come out of isolation in 14 days this may be a combination of hospital, home or provided accommodation depending on your health.
