Blackall-Tambo Regional Council has officially welcomed three new members to the Blackall-Tambo Regional Youth Council, with a swearing-in ceremony held during the March Ordinary Council Meeting in Tambo on 18 March.
Ivy McLane and Addison Richards, both from St Joseph’s Primary School in Blackall, along with Neve Holmes from Tambo State School, were presented with their certificates as the newest Youth Council representatives.
The presentation was conducted by Mayor Andrew Martin and supported by Councillors in attendance, marking an important milestone for the students as they step into their roles representing young people across the region.
The Youth Council continues to play an important role in shaping projects and initiatives that matter to local young people. In recent months, members have contributed ideas and feedback on a range of community improvements, including the development of a new dog park in Blackall—aptly named “The Bark Park”—as well as advocating for the installation of additional water fountains in key community spaces such as the skatepark, main street and parks.
Youth Councillors have also been involved in broader discussions around enhancing local parks and public spaces, contributing ideas to improve accessibility, comfort and appeal for residents and visitors alike.
The Youth Council provides a valuable platform for young people to share their perspectives, build leadership skills and actively contribute to the future of the Blackall-Tambo region.
Council looks forward to the contributions Ivy, Addison and Neve will make as part of the Youth Council and congratulates them on their appointment.
