Blackall Cultural Precinct
The Blackall Cultural Precinct is a major regional development project being delivered by Blackall-Tambo Regional Council in partnership with Red Ridge Interior Queensland Ltd and supported by the Stockwell-Webber Foundation.
The precinct will provide a dedicated space to preserve and showcase the history, culture and stories of the Blackall-Tambo region, while creating a significant community, tourism and economic asset for Blackall.
The project represents a major investment in the region, supporting local employment, construction activity, visitor experiences and long-term economic opportunities.

Wool Processing Facility
Blackall has a long history of leading the Queensland wool industry, and Council has supported investigations into greater industry opportunities for local wool value-adding and processing.
Queensland Wool Processors (QWool) is progressing plans for a wool processing facility in Blackall, representing a significant regional industry opportunity focused on value-adding, manufacturing capability and strengthening the wool supply chain.

Blackall Sewerage Treatment Plant Upgrade
Council is progressing a major upgrade of the Blackall Sewerage Treatment Plant to support the long-term needs of the community and ensure essential infrastructure is fit for the future.
The project is supported by Queensland Government funding through the Local Government Grants and Subsidies Program, with Council also contributing to the project. The upgraded facility will improve reliability, meet regulatory requirements and support the ongoing development of Blackall.

Tambo Sawmill Infrastructure Upgrade
The Tambo Sawmill Infrastructure Upgrade was delivered through the Queensland Government’s Building our Regions program and supported the recommissioning of the Tambo Sawmill through upgrades to machinery and equipment.
The project demonstrated the role of regional infrastructure investment in supporting local industry, employment opportunities and economic activity.
At the time of re-opening, the Sawmill significantly stimulated the local economy of Tambo with fifteen new jobs. Families relocated to Tambo and the flow on effects are felt throughout the town with the local business houses all benefitting through increased expenditure, the rental market booming and nineteen new students at the school.
Works for Queensland (W4Q) Projects
Through the Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland program, Council has delivered projects that improve infrastructure, support local employment and contribute to the liveability of the Blackall-Tambo region.
