Blackall-Tambo Regional Council levies rates to fund the delivery of essential services and infrastructure across the region. These services include roads, waste management, community facilities, parks and gardens, and other local services that support our communities.

 

Rate notices are issued twice yearly for the following periods:

  • 1 January – 30 June
  • 1 July – 31 December
Each notice outlines the amount payable, due dates, and any applicable discounts. If your contact details have changed, or you have not yet received your rates notice, please contact Council (07) 4621 6600

 

Payment Options

Council offers a range of convenient payment options for ratepayers, including:
  • BPAY
  • In person at Council offices
  • By mail

Discounts and Due Dates

Discounts may apply for payments received in full by the nominated due date. Ratepayers are encouraged to refer to their current rate notice for specific discount periods and deadlines.

Overdue Rates

Rates not paid by the due date may be subject to interest charges in accordance with Council’s adopted policies. Council encourages ratepayers experiencing financial difficulty to make contact as early as possible to discuss available options.

Payment Arrangements

Council understands that circumstances can affect a resident's ability to pay their rates, and offers payment arrangements for those who may require additional flexibility. To discuss a payment plan, please contact Council (07) 4621 6600

 

Pensioner Concessions

Eligible pensioners having a Commonwealth Government Concession Card can be granted a remission of general rates and services charges up to a maximum of $340.00 per annum for the 2026-2027 financial year under the same criteria as the State Government Pensioner Remission Scheme.

Applications and eligibility criteria are available through Council.

Electronic Rates Notices

General Rates: A charge levied on properties to fund Council services, infrastructure and operations across the region.

Minimum Rate: The minimum annual general rate payable for a property, regardless of its land valuation.

Example: For residential properties, Council applies a rate of 4.3780 cents for every dollar of land valuation. A property with a land valuation of $15,000 would have a calculated general rate of $656.70 ($15,000 x 4.3780 cents).
Because this is less than the minimum general rate of $843.00, the minimum rate would apply, and the property owner would pay $843.00.

Blackall Sewerage Connected Charge: Applies to properties connected to the Blackall sewerage network.

Tambo Community Effluent Processing Charge: Applies to properties connected to the Tambo community effluent processing system.

Sewerage Access Charge: Applies to properties with access to Council's sewerage infrastructure, not yet connected. 

Additional (Non-Residential) Pedestal Charge – Blackall: An additional sewerage charge for eligible non-residential properties with multiple sewerage connection points in Blackall.

Additional (Non-Residential) Pedestal Charge – Tambo: An additional sewerage charge for eligible non-residential properties with multiple sewerage connection points in Tambo.

Water Connected Charge Applies to properties connected to Council's reticulated water supply network.

Water Access Charge Applies to properties with access to Council's water supply service, not yet connected. 

Water Other Connected Charge (per unit) Applies to additional water service connections or units connected to the water supply network.

Excess Water Charge (per kilolitre) A usage-based charge applied to water consumption above the included allocation.

Residential Waste Collection and Disposal Charge Applies to residential properties receiving Council waste collection and disposal services.

Town Rural Waste Management Charge Contributes to the provision and management of waste services for eligible town rural properties.

Early Payment Discount A discount on general rates available when payment is made within 30 days after the issue of the relevant rate notice on general rates.

Interest on Arrears Interest applied to overdue rates and charges that remain unpaid after the due date.

Pensioner Remission A concession available to eligible pensioners to assist with the cost of rates and service charges.
